Comprehensive Psychiatric Care for Children, Teens & Adults in the Lehigh Valley, PA

Orange Wavy Background

Thoughtful Psychiatric Care. Collaborative Treatment. One Team.

At Pathways for Change, Children’s Counseling Center, we believe every person deserves an individualized treatment plan—not a one-size-fits-all approach.

For many people, therapy is the foundation of healing.

For others, medication may become one helpful part of treatment.

Our Psychiatric Services Program was created to provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and thoughtful medication management while working hand-in-hand with your therapist to ensure every aspect of your care is coordinated.

We don’t believe medication is the answer for everyone.

We believe in the right treatment for the right person at the right time.

Currently Available for Established Pathways Clients

To provide the highest quality, most coordinated care, psychiatric services are currently available exclusively to current, established Pathways for Change clients who are actively participating in therapy with one of our clinicians.

This collaborative model allows your therapist and psychiatric provider to communicate, coordinate treatment recommendations, and work together toward your goals.

Our mission isn’t simply to prescribe medication. Our mission is to help each individual thrive.

A Different Approach to Psychiatric Care

Mental health treatment should never feel fragmented.

Families often find themselves trying to coordinate communication between therapists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, schools, and other providers. At Pathways for Change, we bring those conversations together.

Our psychiatric provider works as part of your treatment team, collaborating with your therapist whenever appropriate, to ensure that recommendations are thoughtful, consistent, and focused on long-term success.

Rather than asking, “What medication should we prescribe?” we begin by asking, “What does this child, or this adult, need to feel better?” Sometimes that answer is therapy. Sometimes it’s lifestyle changes. Sometimes it’s parent support. Sometimes medication is an appropriate addition.

Every recommendation is individualized.

Psychiatric Evaluations

A psychiatric evaluation is much more than deciding whether medication is needed.

Our evaluations are comprehensive and include a careful review of:

  • Current emotional and behavioral concerns

  • Medical history

  • Previous counseling experiences

  • Family history

  • Current medications

  • School or work functioning

  • Sleep

  • Appetite

  • Trauma history when appropriate

  • Treatment goals

Therapy Session Discussion

Following the evaluation, your psychiatric provider will discuss recommendations and develop a personalized treatment plan with you. Medication is only recommended when clinically appropriate.

Medication Management

When medication becomes part of treatment, our approach is careful, thoughtful, and collaborative.

Medication management appointments include ongoing assessment of:

  • Symptom improvement

  • Medication effectiveness

  • Side effects

  • Mood

  • Anxiety

  • Attention and concentration

  • Sleep

  • Appetite

  • Emotional regulation

  • Overall functioning

Treatment plans are adjusted carefully over time to help each person achieve the greatest benefit with the least amount of medication necessary.

Medication Is Never the Only Conversation

At Pathways for Change, medication is never viewed as a stand-alone solution.

Whenever possible, psychiatric care is integrated with:

  • Individual counseling

  • Parent guidance

  • Behavioral interventions

  • Emotional regulation strategies

  • School collaboration

  • Lifestyle recommendations

  • Ongoing communication with your therapist

Because healing happens through relationships, not prescriptions.

Helping Families Navigate the Medication Decision

One of the most difficult questions many parents face is:

“Does my child need medication?”

Our role is never to pressure families into medication.

Our role is to provide education, answer questions, carefully evaluate symptoms, and help families understand every available treatment option.

Many children improve with therapy alone.

Others benefit from combining therapy with medication.

Some begin medication for a period of time and later no longer need it.

There is no one-size-fits-all answer.

Our commitment is to help families make informed decisions that align with their child’s needs and goals.

Her clinical interests include:

  • ADHD

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Mood Disorders

  • Trauma

  • Emotional Regulation

  • Crisis Intervention

  • Family Education

  • Medication Management

Rebecca is passionate about helping individuals and families make informed decisions about treatment while building trusting, collaborative relationships throughout the healing process.
